Jack Taylor Premiered on TV3 on Aug 02, 2010

Jack Taylor is an Irish television drama based on a series of novels by Ken Bruen. Set in Galway, the series stars Iain Glen in the eponymous role of Jack Taylor, a former officer with An Garda Síochána who becomes a private investigator after leaving the service. Taylor is a man who goes looking for clues where others haven't bothered to. He also knows the streets of his hometown like the back of his hand.
The series was first broadcast on TV3 in Ireland on 2 August 2010, and subsequently aired on Canvas in Belgium with Dutch subtitles. It received its UK debut on Channel 5 on 21 February 2013. It has received mixed reviews from critics. Bernice Harrison of The Irish Times felt the films were spoiled by Glen's voiceovers that gave the character the feel of a gumshoe in a film noir. But David Stephenson of the Daily Express said he had been hooked by the first episode's strong opening sequence..

Set in Galway, the series is based on Ken Bruen's crime novels and features Iain Glen in the title role of old-school detective Jack Taylor, a former officer with the Gardai (the Irish police force), and a maverick who often drinks far too much than is good for him. He has been fired from his job after the motorist he caught speeding turned out to be a government minister, who Taylor assaulted when the man threatened him. He is subsequently hired as a private investigator, taking on the cases the police will not investigate, although he enters that profession with somewhat of a reluctance because there are no private eyes in Ireland, explaining, "It's too close to being an informant – a dodgy concept". He soon finds his experience means he is suited to his new role, however, and he is aided in his investigations by his contacts, including some of his former Gardai colleagues, notably Officer Kate Noonan

Anne  hiring Jack as a private eye to find  her missing teenage daughter was interesting as he was fired from the Guards after assaulting a politician and her suggesting she may have become the latest in a series of suspicious suicides was a surprise and an even bigger surprise that she was playing him all along in the hope to flush someone out and discovering the collection of illegal sex videos was diabolical as it looked like he drowned one of them

Another good episode a year after the last so seeing Anne again was a surprise as he was hired to investigate the murder of a man who fell from the scaffolding of a construction site, what a brutal way to stop the drunk from driving by using his own car to run over his legs, Jack being arrested and questioned by his former Garda colleagues was interesting as Anne's new guy is later murdered after he warned him but that was a brave escape

That nun known as Lucifer that worked at the asylum was diabolical as she took pleasure in torturing the inmates and Kate telling Jack about her father was sad but must of struck a memory as he dashed out and saving the kid after getting knocked down was impressive

I'm impressed that Jack didn't go back on the drink when his mother died and the death of the female university student was tragic as it was made to look like suicide, Cody catching Jack and his mother together was amusing and I had a felling Kate was going to be the professors next victim

Cody should of known better than to go for a drink with the reporter but the investigation into the death of a priest who had been beheaded was interesting as he got what he deserved for rapping the Sister who also became pregnant but Cody being shot was a surprise

Jack leaving Galway after after Cody's shooting was understandable and Rosie running into Jack after she witnessed her mother being murdered was lucky but being kidnapped in front of Jack was surprising, Rosie doing a runner from the police station while her family were arguing was crazy with some one is out to get her and the girl was right about Cody coming out of his coma

The drunk coming across the young man crucified on the pole was unfortunate and the kid turning up at the funeral wearing the same coat was careless but following him rather than chase him was a smart move, Gail was a strange one and Darragh was warned not to get to close to her but both getting a smacked in the face was amusing

Jack threatening Kate's surgeon was great as his bedside manner was terrible but having to face a breast mastectomy was sad and so much for the ransom demand when they burnt the money but Jack also loosing a finger like the victim was surprising and all for revenge on his father was disturbing

Having to sign a Non-Disclosure form first was different but the fact the victim worked at a game software firm it made sense and Darragh fighting while holding two beers was impressive, the cocky London investigator trying to sell the software was a bad move as it got himself shot but the wife seemed to like shooting her husbands
