Hi there, the new show "Rizzoli Isles" based on the novels by Tess Gerritsen aired in the US yesterday.

Has anyone who lives there seen it? Was it any good? I keep hoping it will be added to the site soon as I'd love to watch it.

I love her novels and I bet it is good.

Anyone?

In the meantime I finished the latest TG novel and once again it was great.

It would make SUCH a good show too.

I'm not in the US but have just finished watching the first episode which i thought was great, with Jane getting kidnapped by the serial killers after they ransacked her home she managed to get her revenge on the killer from her first case but she should of gone for dinner rather than go home

Sounds great! I can't wait to see it and I hope I can once it is on vip.... It sounds like a good show, thanks for your impressions of the pilot!

Yes but did you notice rip off from her pervious cancelled show 'women murder club'. i am guessing you forgotten about that storyline with exactly similar details to what happen in  that series about the serial killer .

However this first episode showed promise as both character are opposite to each other. it's clear Isles is more outgoing while Rizzoli seems tomboy trying to be a cop. I loved how they decided go with dark murder seriously you really need to be twist get off on dead bodies.

my only concern this show might become a cliché with these two women after few episode.

I've not seen that show but i will check it out
Author: Teachergirl    Time: 7-14-2010 04:46

I did not know that Tess Gerritsen had a show before..... it will be interesting to see what they do with Rizzoli Isles, if they bring in the actual storylines from the books or if it goes into another direction like Bones based on the novels by Kathy Reichs.
Actually, I'd have preferred a miniseries like they did for Mankell's Wallander.

Good episode i liked the fact that someone was jailed but it was still a cold case as well but the retired cop trying to frame who he thought was responsible is one thing but killing three women along the way was horrible

Good news about the renewal, I hope that raises the chances for the show to be added to vip- I would LOVE to see it and I tried to view from their website but of course- I am not in the US so no luck. But I heard from several friends in the US that it is a good show and one they plan to follow regularly.

Yay, just saw the message that it is on the list of shows to be added and I have managed to see the four episodes that aired so far.
I love the show. I like the main characters, the cases are good, there's quirks and all in all this is well made and entertaining. This goes on my list of shows to keep watching.

Another good episode when a student is gunned down in broad daylight but it's crazy how expensive collage is and what she had to do when she lost her scholarship but i think the killer was obvious after he lied about the locker key and what Rizzoli did for the other girl was nice

This episode highlighted difference between Rizzoli and Isles and gave background on where Isles came from and fact she doesn't need a job because she's loaded . it kind of obvious swimmer brother killed the brother because he's only one who didn't need a boat.

Not a bad show, was nice to see a buddy cop show with two main characters (partners) where there isn't the sexual tension between them.

Agreed.   It was my first time watching too, and I quite liked it.  It's nice having 2 strong female leads in a drama.  The story was good, and I am hoping it just gets better.
Author: Mnemosyne    Time: 9-29-2010 15:13     Subject: I am in the race

1x01 I thought it was pretty generic, but I'm not a big fan of the genre anyway.
Author: waterlilybarb    Time: 9-29-2010 15:25     Subject: Reply 42#42 Mnemosyne's post

It's not so much the genre I'm a fan of, I just liked the interaction of the main characters, and would imagine as the season progressed that the relationships between them & other characters (like Rizzoli's family & other cops, etc) would get fleshed out more.  I like that it's not just a procedural, but has stories for the characters too.  I find that a lot more interesting. It reminded me a LITTLE of Crossing Jordan in that respect.

I'm definitely more about the characters & storylines, so if a show has those and are ones I can relate to or just enjoy, I don't really mind which genre it's in.  I was less likely to give certain shows a chance when I as younger as I DID have a bias against certain genres, but now find that some I scoffed at have become my favourite shows as they told wonderful stories with 3 dimensional characters.

Author: Mnemosyne    Time: 9-29-2010 15:41     Subject: Reply 43#43 waterlilybarb's post

it'll probably get better, pilots are rarely very good and I usually give new shows the benefit of the doubt, but with cop shows for me it's just the same over and over again. They find a body, they find the killer. Every week. Even if the main characters are interesting, it's really the genre that keeps me from watching these shows.

Still trying to watch all the race shows and do the quizzes and I liked this one. It's one I may well come back to but I do agree that it's a genre that is a bit too samey! Kind of makes me want to read the books though.

Episode 1: See One, Do One, Teach One

This was a great episode, I found it a little funny how Rizzoli got blamed for getting a bloody nose by her mum Angela even though it was Frankie that caused the bloody nose, I liked the scene of Rizzoli & Isles talking while lying in bed together, I did not agree with Rizzoli about leaving that poor victim in the woods as bait, my favourite scene was of Rizzoli taking down Charles with first a flare then a stun gun and finished off with a gun shot to Charles Hoyt's hand, the ending to this episode with Rizzoli & Isles at Rizzoli's messed up apartment was funny.

Michael Massee did a brilliant job of playing Charles Hoyt whose character creped the hell out of me.
Author: spratt89    Time: 2-6-2011 07:16

Episode 2: Boston Strangler Redux

I thought this episode was slightly better than the series premiere, I found it funny that Isles was wearing that silly outfit for baseball but flirting over a dead body was a little disturbing, I loved Isles dinner date with Nate because she basically told Nate his going to die soon from a genetic medial disorder, It might only be me but I really dislike the Lt. Joey Grant character because of his general attitude, I did not see that twist coming which was retired cop Kenny Leahy was the copy cat Boston Strangler, I loved how this episode ended because it ended with some light humour.

I have seen allot of cop shows and I don't think I have ever seen anybody like Isles character in the way she dresses and talks.
Author: spratt89    Time: 2-6-2011 11:54

Episode 3: Sympathy For The Devil

This was a pretty good episode, I may not like the Lt. Joey Grant character but I do like his hate/love relationship with Rizzoli so I find it a shame that Lt. Joey Grant left to take a new job in DC at the end, I would of ran a mile if I found snakes inside of my car, my favourite scene was of Father Osorio Coku / Reginald Perry performing an exorcism which got interrupted by a Molotov cocktail, I did not expect Alicia Senna to be the murderer but then maybe that was just me, I would like to learn a bit more about Barry Frost's character because at the moment all I know is that he pukes when around dead bodies.

I'm not sure but was I the only one who found the case to be a little bit in the freaky department.

Some of the episode in this show are really freaky that episode was one of them
Author: spratt89    Time: 2-6-2011 13:58

Episode 4: She Works Hard For The Money

This episode was not that much better than the last episode, I found it funny how Isles just dumped those school children all because a murder happened at the University she attended, my favourite scene was of Rizzoli getting Angela her car back from a somewhat evil car dealer, I was glad to see Frost actually help more with the case as the first 3 episodes he has not had that much of an impact, I loved the scene of Rizzoli shooting Lucas Bilton dead because it seemed like the gun shot lifted him off the ground, It was nice of Rizzoli to get Natalie a fully paid scholarship by making a deal with the University Bosses.

I seem to laugh quite allot when Rizzoli has any interaction with her mother Angela.
Author: spratt89    Time: 2-6-2011 14:58

Episode 5: Money For Nothing

This episode was a vast improvement on the last 2 episodes, I lost a little respect for Isles after what she did at the Fairfield house at the beginning but she gained it back the longer the episode went on, I found the scene of Frost eating Oysters which Vince called Oyster snot a little funny, I liked the ending with Isles trying out a beer for the first time, I love how Barry Frost & Vince Korsak both make fun of one another constantly, It might only of been me but I really wanted to hit Robert Colburn's character up until the point when he helped Rizzoli out.
Author: spratt89    Time: 2-7-2011 04:48

Episode 6: I Kissed A Girl

I thought this was a really good episode, I could not help but find the scene of Rizzoli taking a Yoga class with Isles a little funny, I was gob smacked when Isles pulled out a shaving kit from her purse when Rizzoli said “I have not shaven my legs” while on a double date with 2 guys from the Yoga class, my favourite scene was when Frost took down the extremely strong Roy character with a choke hold, the scene of Rizzoli & Isles talking in bed was funny at times, I loved the scenes of Rizzoli & Isles undercover at a Gay bar, I liked how this episode diverted us away from the wife being the killer but in the end it turns out the wife was the killer.
Author: spratt89    Time: 2-7-2011 07:22

Episode 7: Born To Run

This was a fantastic episode to watch, I am always amazed as to the somewhat strange things Isles wears when she is not working, I loved the reaction by Isles when Rizzoli informed her she has to perform an autopsy in the field, I felt bad for those 2 victims up until the point we learned they raped a 15 year old girl and recorded it, my favourite scene was of Rizzoli & Frankie  Jr chasing and stopping Courtney before she kills her last target Jim, I had a big smile on my face when Rizzoli arrested Jim too, I really liked the ending to this episode with Rizzoli & Isles finishing the marathon hours after everybody else.

I might be the only person but I loved the Quinn character.
Author: spratt89    Time: 2-7-2011 08:55

Episode 8: I'm Your Boogie Man

This an excellent episode, I have to agree with Rizzoli when she said Isles looked like a Bad Ass while holding a loaded gun, my favourite scene was of Isles talking with Charles Hoyt, It was really good to see Agent Gabriel Dean again and I hope he returns at some point, I never saw the twist coming with Lola turning out to be the secret Hoyt parter but it was brave of Frankie Jr to grab the gun but I feel bad for Frankie because he had to kill somebody for the first time, I swear Charles Hoyt's character makes my skin crawl, I wonder if there is anything Isles does not know because she knows how to read somebody’s face like Cal Lightman from Lie To Me.
Author: spratt89    Time: 2-7-2011 12:55

Episode 9: The Beast In Me

This was a really good episode, I might be the only person but for some reason I like the Big Mo character, I was not happy about learning Isles father was an Irish Mob Boss aka a criminal as it resembles Brennan from Bones whose dad was/is a criminal, I found it quite touching to learn Patrick kept an eye on Isles her entire life even though his a wanted man, I'm not sure we will find out who tipped Patrick off but I would of tipped him off if it was to protect my family, my favourite scene from this episode was of Rizzoli, Isles & Frankie Jr help Frankie Sr on a plumbing job at the Dirty Robber.
Author: spratt89    Time: 2-7-2011 13:42

Episode 10: When The Gun Goes Bang, Bang, Bang

This was the best episode of season 1 by a country mile in my opinion, It might only be me but did this episode remind anybody else of the CSI NY episode when the lap was overrun with an Irish Gang, my favourite scenes were of Isles treating a seriously wounded Frankie Jr while under extreme pressure, I never saw the twist about Bobby being a dirty cop coming, I swear my jaw hit the floor when Rizzoli shot herself to kill Bobby but the way it was done in slow motion was awesome. It was a nice surprise to learn Rizzoli & Frankie Jr have a brother called Tommy who has been in prison.

I cant wait to see the result of the cliff hanger in season 2.
Author: kellemanske    Time: 2-10-2011 12:16

So I just watched the entire first season.
To start with the pilot: it wasn't quite what I expected. It was nothing like the other pilots I've seen. They just put it all out there from the beginning, no introducing, that is coming later. I loved it.
Also the fact that the killer comes back troughout the season is good, but I just hope they don't overdo it cause how many times can a killer go after the one that got away from in prison or how many times can he break out, and how many times can you escape a killing.
Then everything inbetween the pilot and the final was great and I loved watching it. I love the tension between the new and the old partner, the pieces from her past that keep coming back and the differences between Isles and Rizzoli that keep coming up. Although it wasn't very believeble that in non of the episodes Isles wanted to guess and then in one of the episodes she suddenly started guessing a lot...
Then the season final: it was a great ending with the chief being questioned, the guys being out of range, the brother being shot, the other brother that no one knew about (only strange that he was introduced so late) and I loved the rescue and Isles trick with the walki, oh and offcourse the ending with Rizzoli shooting the dirty cop through herself because everyone else was going to let him get away to save her.
Can't wait to see how this is going to end, what a cliffhanger.
When is the next season starting?

you're right, it was a bit predictable. But this is the second time they have moira preforming surgery and I'm wondering if there is a reason for that. It's just a bit increadible that she would be able to pull it off that nicely without having it done more then once. And allthough the mother was technically death and this was somehow within her job description, it was just a bit too much for me.

Spoiler's (for those who didn't get to see it on tv)

I really like this show, it think that Jane's & Mora's personalities really compliment each other, and it's not a friendship that you would expect to form, but I find their chemistry hilarious. That mechanic (can't recall his name), was so funny in this episode, how gross to want to lick her face. She should have taken Jane's advise, but I loved how they got rid of him.
I suspected that it might not be a sailor (after seeing him come out of the elevator), but one dressed as one. Those kind of crimes are just the cruelest. I loved how Frankie, got him while still following Jane's order not to leave the car.
I do hope they bring back Charles Hoyt aka "The Surgeon" (played by Michael Massee), I just love him and he definitely gives the show a certain creep factor as he always does with the roles he plays.

The bff thing was FUNNY!!!  Loved it.  They have great chemistry.

**Angie Harmon just moved her family to my area.  Kinda neat.

I thought it was one of the best episodes so far.  Lots of emotion without all the character baggage.

TNT Renews 'Rizzoli & Isles' For 3rd Season

TNT has booked its blockbuster series Rizzoli & Isles for a third season. The record-breaking drama – from Warner Horizon Television and starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander – is in the midst of a terrific second season that has it running neck-and-neck with The Closer as this year’s top basic cable series. TNT has ordered 15 episodes of Rizzoli & Isles for its third season, which is slated to launch in summer 2012. The show’s second season will continue airing Monday nights at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) through Sept. 12. Rizzoli & Isles will return to wrap up its second season with new episodes in November and December.

Rizzoli & Isles launched this summer with 8.6 million viewers, joining The Closer and Falling Skies in giving TNT three premieres with at least 8.0 million viewers, the first time a cable network has ever achieved that level of success. The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles are currently basic cable’s top two series for the year-to-date, with Falling Skies ranking as the top new series.

“This summer, Rizzoli & Isles has proven that last year’s record-breaking ratings were just the beginning of this show’s remarkable track record,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “With a terrific cast, a top-notch production team and the kind of stories TNT fans crave, Rizzoli & Isles is poised to continue its success alongside blockbuster TNT series like The Closer and Falling Skies.”

Based on characters created by best-selling crime novelist Tess Gerritsen, Rizzoli & Isles stars Angie Harmon as Jane Rizzoli, a tough-as-nails Boston police detective, and Sasha Alexander as Maura Isles, a smart, impeccably dressed medical examiner from a privileged background. Despite being complete opposites, the two women share an offbeat chemistry and strong working relationship that has helped them bust some of Boston’s most notorious criminals. Lorraine Bracco co-stars as Jane’s demanding and intrusive mother. Rizzoli & Isles also stars Lee Thompson Young, Bruce McGill and Jordan Bridges.

Rizzoli & Isles was developed for television by Janet Tamaro and is produced by Warner Horizon Television, Tamaro’s Hurdler Productions and Bill Haber’s Ostar Productions. Tamaro and Haber serve as executive producers for the second season, along with Joel Fields and Michael Zinberg. Michael M. Robin serves as a consulting producer.

2x04 Brown Eyed Girl
It's a shame about Sophie after four years but Joey and his drawings was impressive but trust the cop to spoil the stakeout of the car and killing the photograph was a great outcome

Jane gets a surprise that her brother spend the night with Isles but playing chess but what a way for him to find out who her father is and it did look like he was a good guy after all given that family money to look after the dad

I liked that they were tied up with guns to their heads and Isles says, "Rooke to bishops 4"  AHAH   They weren't going to stop their game for some Mob guy.  Daddy or not! hahah

I was glad to see Paddy isn't the horrible guy he's portrayed.

I  like that the brother explained how Paddy had standards and that that's why he got the power.

What a jerk that Dr. Pike was by releasing the body and Jane's apology in front of the sensitivity training officer was awesome but Sutton got what he deserved by trying make it look like Paddy was responsible

The swallowed teeth of one of Charles Hoyt victims was interesting but the warden was a pain in the neck and what happened in the jail was great, it's a shame the warden wasn't kicked in the privates

I wasn't prepared for the prosecutor to be guilty.  What a great twist.  I liked that Janes partnet wouldn't give up his CI.  Whats the point in a confidential CI if it's NOT confidential!  Duhhh....
