While VIKINGS is filled with conflict, warfare and bloodshed – for these were extreme times – it is a family saga at heart. It follows the adventures ofRagnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel, The Beast, Baytown Outlaws), a curious, compelling  man who is always looking to break through barriers and discover new worlds to conquer. A young farmer and family man, Ragnar is deeply frustrated by the unadventurous policies of his local chieftain, Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne, In Treatment, Usual Suspects, Millers Crossing), who continues to send his Vikings raiders east every summer, to the Baltic states and Russia, whose populations are as materially poor as themselves.

VIKINGS will chart Ragnar’s ambitions to discover civilizations across the great ocean to the west as well as his inevitable conflicts along the way. With the help of his jester friend Floki, (Gustaf Skarsgard, The Way Back), they build a new generation of boats – faster, sleeker and more beautifully crafted than anything else on the sea.

The series will also delve into how the Vikings – the last pagans – worshipped ancient gods like Odin, Thor, Freya and Loki. Ragnar claims to be a direct descendant of the Norse god Odin, who, as well as being the god of warriors slain in battle, is also the god of curiosity.

Joining Fimmel, Byrne and Skarsgard are Katheryn Winnick (Bones, Love and Other Drugs, The Black Marks) as Lagertha, a fierce shield maiden and Ragnar’s wife; Jessalyn Gilsig (Glee, Heroes, Nip/Tuck, Friday Night Lights) as Siggy, Earl Haraldson’s beautiful wife; George Blagden (Les Miserables, Wrath of the Titans) as Athelstan, a young, innocent Christian monk captured by Ragnar on his first raid on England and Clive Standen(Camelot, Robin Hood) as Rollo, Ragnar’s impulsive, wild, care-free brother.

I was impressed how that women handled those two men who tried to attack her while her husband was away. Taking his son to see how real world work certainly surprised him.

Well i did find it amusing how she attacked her husband and tell his son they were having an argument.   . I wasn't expecting that sort humour on this because she's one firsy women. i am curious what she meant by that she saved him ?. I really felt bad for those priest because they had no idea these Vikings were coming .

The way Lagertha defended herself from the two assailants was awesome as they thought they would have their wicked way with her while the men were away, taking the young boy to see the execution was disturbing

The master offering his wife I found amusing as it was only a test to see if he can be trusted and the fact he betrayed the others he got what he deserved and the attack on the priest was a little over the top as they were unarmed

Yes but how did they know about how it worked ? - i assume viking had no education so for them to understand was rather impressive.

I did find it amusing when he asked his slave priest to join in but taking him as prize was interesting choice consider what was avaliable but making him in charge of his kid while he takes his wife on raid was even more surprising thing. You really question what these Vikings are about since he seem to be the only one with brain   

I had a feeling the second raid wouldn't go to plan but his brother force a battle was unfortunate

It was obvious that the Earl would keep the treasure for himself but taking the Priest instead of one piece of gold was a pleasant surprise as the Earl would of probable killed him and he knew better than to take Lagertha's son while she was holding the axe

Well killing kings brother on raid after he tried rape her and he got what he deserved but trying explain it to king was rather difficult.

Lagertha killing Kauko after trying to rape her was great as he deserved it and Ragnar's crews battle on the beach was interesting as they were outnumbered

Well i actually thought this was the season finale but i was wrong but what a turn of events for  Ragnar' becoming the new king . Best of luck because he needs it but his brother taking old king wife was amusing. .

Yes i am slightly behind due to the fact my dad thought it was good idea to start painting my bedroom on Sunday morning which meant i just spend most of yesterday and today helping him out paint my room as well as moving everything out and clean all the mess .

Ragnar was lucky to escape from the Earl but having the boat at the right place was incredible and the Earl marrying his daughter to the old guy was disturbing but she was lucky he was drunk and fell asleep in the marital chamber

I'm not surprised Ragnar wanted a face to face with the Earl for torturing Rollo but he took a hell of a risk as he hadn't healed from the last attack

Well asking for £30K weight in coins to leave them alone was ambitious but than going to attack them as decoy was pointless since they won and ended up paying the money .

I liked the way Lagertha dealt with the babies father problem but tragic she lost her own and asking for 2000lb in weight was a strange request and the condition that one of them get baptised was an even stranger request but the waste of life trying not to pay the ransom was crazy

Lagertha praying for a son after her miscarriage was predictable but Ragnar being more interested in who will give him a son was barbaric as there was no way to prove the sacrifices actually worked

His son seeing him cheat on his mother his reaction was normal for a kid but promising his son he would never do it again broke the promise was sad. I had the feeling negotiation wouldn't work but turning his brother against him was a nice twist.

Ragnar having to apologise to Aslaug for his men seeing her naked was amusing and flirting with her in front of his son was wrong, with him wanting a son by any means I wasn't surprised but I found her saying she's carrying his child amusing as it looked like it had only been one day

Well defeating his brother was rather quick but saving his life was surprising but i have to say Ragnar must be mad when his mistress came into his town and suggest she and his wife would share a house but i am not surprised she left afterwards

Well that raid wasn't as easy compared to first time but at least they tried to put up a fight but what a great time to attack their home while they were away on a raid . The brother did a great job at defending but no choice but to retreat and save Ragnar family

A four year jump since Ragnar's wife left with their son was surprising but at leased he has another and only five ships making the crossing was incredible as they looked like there were a lot more when they set off and if that wasn't bad enough they had no idea where they had landed at first

Now the know they have landed in Wessex you just knew they would try and raid the English churches but torturing the priest was barbaric and what a shame Lagertha has another abusive partner, Rollo doing his best to save Ragnar's home was impressive but that's what you get when you leave them unmanned

Lagertha's visit to the fortune teller doesn't look good and King Ecbert idea for a joint force was interesting but I expected more resistance and ending up being piggy in the middle was more challenging

Wanting his head seemed morbid but the fact he had been abusing her as a child she got some sort of peace from attacking his head and it was a little predictable that her confession about lying naked she was talking about him and the amputation was barbaric but it's what he wanted

Finding out one of his wives died was awful but attacking his newphew was a bit ridclous. This used to be such a great series but this season has been a bit disappointing i don't know whether i am being more critical it just i miss good storylines in battle . Now everything is so messed up

The Emperor refusing to leave when the Viking's managed to create panic in Paris was the right thing to do but I think he would of left if it wasn't for his daughters words and looks like Floki is loosing his mind

I really enjoyed the fact they finally have a challenging it was becoming boring how Viking conquer everything but this was the first time they actually got a challenge and French traps were rather impressive and how they pour the oil on the ladder was impressive considering they only couple hours to see the ladders on the ships.

Borne showing how much of man he has become was impressive even after someone tried kill him while he was alone was impressive how he was able defend against a man that was twice his size but getting his girlfriend to kill her husband as revenge was impressive showing how much she loved Borne.

Rolo defending against his brother was impressive but his child bride was amusing how he managed to win her over Gisla .

You just knew there would be a second assault on Paris after the failed first attempt but them also being prepared for a night attack was impressive and the failed decapitation when the guy lost half his hand was amusing

No wonder Ragnar wanted to be baptised when he knew he was dying and the girl allowing Count Odo to whip her was crazy but the fake funeral to take Paris was devious, nobody translating what the princess said was amusing
