Rake (US) Premieres on FOX on January 19, 2014



RAKE, a character-driven drama based on the Australian nominee for Best Television Drama series of the same name, follows the comedic and chaotic life of criminal defense lawyer KEEGAN DEANE (Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear, “Little Miss Sunshine,” “The Kennedys”).

On a single day, Keegan Deane is described as many things. His ex-wife-calls him “unreliable”; his son calls him a “pal”; most judges think he’s “an outrage”; the IRS calls him a “defendant”; and to his former dealer, he’s simply a “tragic loss.”

Brilliant, frustratingly charming and with zero filter, Keegan is one of life’s great addicts. His staggering lack of discretion and inability to self-censor land him the cases that nobody else will touch, but behind that lies a resolute optimism and belief in justice that fuel his dogged determination to defend those who seem beyond redemption. He always tries to do the right thing, but at the same time struggles to save himself from the many self-destructive elements that plague his own life, such as his overindulgence of various excesses, including women and gambling.

Keegan gets a majority of his cases from BEN LEON (John Ortiz, “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Luck”), his best friend since law school. Ben is married to SCARLET (Necar Zadegan, “Emily Owens, M.D.,” “The Event”), another of Keegan’s old friends and, as Assistant District Attorney for the city of Los Angeles, quite often his opponent in court.

In addition to Keegan’s cases within the justice system, the series follows his personal trials and tribulations, including his mounting debt to his bookie and his overlapping liaisons with various women, including MELISSA “MIKKI” PARTRIDGE (Bojana Novakovic, “Edge of Darkness,” “Drag Me To Hell”), Keegan’s favorite prostitute and de-facto love interest. Also among his predicaments is his ongoing battle with the IRS. But always there to help Keegan clean up his mess is LEANNE ZANDER (Tara Summers, “Ringer,” “Damages”), his extremely put-upon, no-nonsense assistant.

Meanwhile, Keegan’s ex-wife, MADDY (Miranda Otto, “The Starter Wife,” “War of the Worlds”), a psychologist by profession, begrudgingly acts as his therapist. She also is the mother of their hormonal son, FINN (Ian Colletti, “ Phoebe In Wonderland”), who displays many of the same proclivities as his father.

Each morning, Keegan tends to wake up bruised – physically, emotionally, spiritually. Usually it’s a combination of them all. Then it’s out into the world – onto the battleground of Keegan’s day.

Given that i already seen Austrian version of this series it strange American version because certainly work in aussie tv you can clearly see they tried to make this more fast paced compared Aussie version.

The biggest problem with this series is main actor he just not suitable for this role because we used seeing him play nice guys and him trying portray this character is just wrong however because he's such a talented actor he does decent enough job .

The mayor getting mad after he proved the cop made serial killer out of fake confession but to make him pay for it was odd surely he should of been mad at cop who made the fake confession .

Keegan getting a new client as payment of a poker debt I thought was rotten luck as it looked like it was the first time he won in a while and desperate for the cash to pay his gambling debt but the fish being so valuable was surprising and trust him to spoil the deal, I cant believe he dragged the fish around all day

The way Keegan meet the new girl Brooke was different but she seems to be a nice woman and him thinking it was a set-up was amusing, Brooke being responsible for putting the old guy in hospital was a surprise

I really like Brooke as well but putting his best friend dad in hospital was certainly amusing and she tell him he likes crazy women was great because he didn't expect this sort of crazy. It does seem follow Aussie one very closely i look difference but it hard to find them.

The mother pretending that her son has cancer to defraud the insurance company to cover her gambling-addicted was unbelievable and Tony Hawk being a guest star was interesting as Keegan promised he would make a guest appearance after he made him look stupid but the charity auction was priceless

Well not be able to look bald child in the face and tell him he doesn't have cancer was amusing but her gambling the money away was horrible

Well same storyline with Rake son falling in love with the teacher and you would think American law and Austrian law would be different slightly on this matter but look like they are not and find out it was illegal really help kegan.

I cant believe he was going to get her to pull his tooth out with the pliers and listening to the game in church was amusing and cannibalism not being a crime was disturbing as eating the body would be a devious way to get away with murder but putting them off their chicken was amusing

Well it's good judge didn't like his ex wife certainly his case much easier but 3rd wife appearing was amusing . Who would of thought his kids bike prevented him from escaping was funny. .

Alberto tripping over his sons bike was amusing as he just warned him about it and having a different wife for each of his three restaurants was priceless but at leased he seemed to be a good father to all his children

The mother trying prove her daughter innocence when in fact she was guilty was surpring but trying ask him to lose case and prosecution also wanting not send her to jail created such an amusing case but than accusing him seduce her was priceless using his own words against him

It was right for Lucy to be charged with jury tampering after sleeping with a juror but what extraordinary lengths the mother went to for her daughter considering she was actually guilty and Finn's mother loosing it because he is still seeing his teacher was amusing

Keegan getting his had stapled looked painful but having to pay $40,000 a week is going to be even more painful but Leanne being asked to flirt with the building superintendent was amusing, trying to keep Reggie from his third strike was tough

Ben hiring Keegan into his firm was lucky as that $25,000 bonus check will help towards his weekly repayment plan and you just knew he would try and get Cindy his new assistant into bed, Keegan trashing his room looking for the drugs was priceless and Leanne has spent ages cleaning it but her sleeping with Roy was a surprise, covering up how Marcus died was understandable

Well Kegan getting framed as person of interest in the murder of the mayor was amusing but his alba being Gloria who decided to lie as not provide one for Kegan was sad but Kegan finding a way around it was good as he wasn't responsable.

Well it was strange seeing Jules in suit and tie but his two persona was great way to separate his life between the business but finding out the judge was in his black book was rather convenient

Well having former governor of California getting in dispute with taxi driver and cause problem but as per normal Kegan get to bottom of the problem but partner of the law firm jumping out window was bad timing because now the firm screwed.

Well having his briefcase stolen was just bad luck but what was on that DVD was disturbing as title kind of give away what was on the DVD but making juror watch it again and again until they get used to it was great tactic as he wasn't convicted. .

Maddy asking Keegan to try and figure out what to do with Bruce was understandable as she failed and Keegan's alibi for Marcus's death being he was with his wife Gloria was bound to make thing awkward as she wasn't going to back his story and dirty his and her name

Keegan waiting a whole three episodes before trying to get into Cindy's pants was impressive and David proposing to Mikki after awesome sex was amusing as he still has no idea how she learnt her sex skills but stopping the mugger after getting shot was impressive, what a scum-bag wearing a neck-brace after the baseball bat accident and Finn's teacher going for someone younger was surprising

The way she stole the doctor's bag was slick as he barley put it down before she casualty walked off with it but having an explicit video of him was unfortunate as the theft looked like a opportunist, the daughter wanting to see the DVD was surprising and the bet to see who gets Maddy into bed was priceless

I thought holding back this the final episode for twelve weeks was ridiculous, I had a feeling the big guy running from police was a peeping tom but asking them not to tell his mother was amusing and the kid crying in court to buy Keegan some time was impressive but loosing the kids $19,000 he deserved to loss the priceless pipe
