From Neil Cross, the award-winning creator of "Luther," comes "Crossbones," a compelling new one-hour drama filled with extraordinary action, adventure and intrigue - set in a world where one can never be sure just who is hero and who is villain.

It's 1729. On the secret island of Santa Compana, Edward Teach, better known as the barbarous pirate Blackbeard (Emmy winner John Malkovich, "Death of a Salesman," "Red"), reigns over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws and miscreants. Part shantytown, part utopia, part marauder's paradise, this is a place like no other.

Blackbeard has designs on the longitude chronometer, an invention that will change the world. During a massive attack on an English vessel, his most trusted pirates attempt to steal the device. But on board is Tom Lowe (Richard Coyle, "Covert Affairs"), an English spy working undercover as ship's surgeon. Lowe's mission is to prevent the chronometer from falling into the hands of pirates - and to assassinate Blackbeard, should the opportunity arise.

Taken as prisoner to Santa Compana, Lowe must find a way to reassemble the precious chronometer, all while trying to uncover Blackbeard's master plan - a plan that includes a greater threat to the English throne than merely pirates...

In addition to Cross, executive producers include Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald ("Gladiator," "Men in Black"), Ted Gold ("Three Rivers") and Ciaran Donnelly ("Vikings," "The Tudors").

Tom not being able to kill Blackbeard was predictable so destroying the chronometer to stop it from falling into the hands of the pirates was the next best thing but saving Blackbeard after poisoning him was amusing

Tom was lucky he didn't hang but putting the other out of his misery was surprising and Blackbeard was lucky he was able to defend himself as his men were other wise engaged

Well this wasn't as boring as i thought it was going to be which was a nice surprise . Tom is really on his own but his friend saving him from getting tortured was nice but it does look like they will become friends

Tom was lucky but Kate lying to prevent tom hanging was nice but i hope she doesn't distract him from his mission . The fact black-beard arranged it was surprise just hang that other guy

Kate getting herself captured by the English was unfortunate but being buried alive was evil and as soon as Blackbeard heard that Kate has been captured you just knew he would come to her rescue but the decoy boat was clever

Yes but i did think coincident when he said she could get captured and her confidence was like that unlikely  guess next time she will be more careful.

Tom hypnotising Blackbeard seemed a little to easy but Blackbeard having other plans for Tom was interesting as he was to copy the Cuban governors map without him knowing

Tom only just escaped with his life after he tricked Blackbeard into letting him return to Jamaica but there was a lot of blood in the water after that jump

Nenna cutting her throat was a surprise but the way Rose was treating her she was bound to retaliate sooner or later and at leased the chest wasn't empty for long and Tom must of been crazy drilling into Blackbeard's head when it was all fake

Nelly approaching Tom and asks for his help dealing with Nenna was going to put her own life at risk but Tom tricking Nenna by burying the box was amusing and trusting James with the letter had painful consequences

Blackbeard plan to sink the Spanish treasure fleet was impressive as they used the Chronometer to navigate them to the trap but I had a feeling it wouldn't be easy with Jagger on their tail and Kate needing a blood transfusion to save her life was quick thinking

You just knew sending the white flag after that attack on the island was a suicide mission but William shooting Blackbeard in the head only to hit the coin covering the hole in his head was unbelievable
