Subject: VIPTV Site not loading [Print This Page]

Author: gdi3    Time: 5-27-2016 20:30     Subject: VIPTV Site not loading

Anyone else having a problem with the VIPTV site not loading and getting a connection timed-out message? I can get on to the sister movie site and any other internet site but the VIPTV site appears to be a problem.

I just tried The Path 1x10 and that loaded OK

Thank you for checking. I still can't get the main site to load so it seems it's at my end.

Have you tried rebooting your router as a first step

Yes, just now. Still not working. Have no idea why as all was well a few hours ago. Thanks anyway.

I'm in Aus with Bigpond/Telstra as a ISP and I'm having to use my VPN to get access as of 1am today. This is the same for others in my area that I have set the service up for as well. I currently believe Telstra is blocking the traffic. It might not be Telsra and it could also be that routing my internet traffic differently though a proxy fixed the problem.

On further testing with my VPN if I set it to Sydney it loads but really slow but if I set it to Cal, US it loads relatively fast so it may be a routing problem

Thanks. I'm in Melb and with Telstra. Still can't get onto the VIP site.

Can you try using a VPN or tethering the 3G on your phone (or is that with Telstra also)? My brother is in Melbourne (well, just outside) and he complains a lot about Telstra!!

Looks like they've had a lot of issues registered in the last 12 hours: http://aussieoutages.com/status/telstra
Author: gdi3    Time: 5-28-2016 03:22

Thanks, Shinny. I've changed my VPn but still no luck/

That's frustrating alright. Hopefully Telstra resolve the issue soon!
Author: gdi3    Time: 5-28-2016 17:34

Spent an hour of the phone to Telstra. It appears that Telstra is blocking the site, probably not on purpose by the sounds of it. So anyone with Telstra cannot access the site in Australia I'm told. Seems it's now up to the VIPTV.net team to maybe contact Telstra and advise them of what's going on.

Day two without VIPTV and there is no better site to go to while I wait!!!!

Have you tried using a proxy in a different country? I see woothdye mentioned it earlier, but don't see if you tried it or not.
Author: gdi3    Time: 5-28-2016 18:08

Not sure that I've done it correctly but have input two addresses as per instructions here:  http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/how-to/setup-opendns-in-windows-7.html

Is that what is meant by a proxy server?

Author: waterlilybarb    Time: 5-28-2016 18:29     Subject: Reply 14#14 gdi3's post

I don't think so. I've not used one for actual viewing, but use them sometimes when the forum has gone down to check if it's only down in my location (which is sometimes the case). I was trying to find one to send you the link, but I have a wicked migraine, and cannot for the life of me think clearly enough to find one that allows you to sign into your account. Maybe you could send a PM to woothdye asking which proxy he uses?

If someone else could help, that would be great. If you don't want to post the link publicly, please feel free to send a message via PM to me.

Sorry I'm not too helpful tonight. Was just checking in to make sure we weren't getting spammed again before heading to bed for the night.

Thank you, Barb, appreciate the assist.

Hope your migraine goes away quickly! Take care,

You're welcome, and thanks. I'm hoping it will be gone when I wake up tomorrow. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I've just PM'd you an article I found with a few options to try. Let us know how you get on.
Author: gdi3    Time: 5-29-2016 00:05     Subject: Reply 18#18 shinny's post

Thanks, Shinny. I've asked a couple of people here in Melbourne (they're in different areas to me) to try the site and they can't connect to it either. [ Last edited by gdi3 at 5-29-2016 00:07 ]

I wouldn't give up on Telstra though. Maybe ask to speak to a higher level tech person and insist on them explaining why they are blocking it, inadvertently or not!! That's very bizarre.
Author: gdi3    Time: 5-29-2016 00:54     Subject: Reply 20#20 shinny's post

Yes, it has been escalated higher up the Telstra chain so all I can do now is hope and wait that it will be fixed.
Author: tmbetts    Time: 5-29-2016 02:20

We are having the same issue. Are in Australia and are with Telstra. Have tried using the VPN Hola. It lets us load the page and open a show and click the play button and then nothing happens.
Author: gdi3    Time: 5-29-2016 10:25     Subject: Reply 22#22 tmbetts's post

Only thing I can suggest is to get onto Telstra and ask them to fix it. Have asked a few friends here to try the site and none with Telstra can get onto it but others on Optus etc can. The issue happened sometime late Friday night/Saturday morning 27 or 28 May.

Same here guys down south... no luck at all...... Keep us posted
Author: gdi3    Time: 5-29-2016 17:03     Subject: Reply 24#24 gerijones's post

I've just tried it now and it seems to be working ... maybe Telstra has fixed it.
Author: waterlilybarb    Time: 5-29-2016 18:30     Subject: Reply 25#25 gdi3's post

YAY! I hope they have, and that you can continue to access the site.
Author: tmbetts    Time: 5-29-2016 19:52     Subject: Reply 25#25 gdi3's post

Ours still won't load. What did you say to Telstra when you spoke to them?
Author: gdi3    Time: 5-29-2016 22:26     Subject: Reply 27#27 tmbetts's post

Nope - it worked on my mobile today and at work on my work computer but not on my home computer. By the way, have you recently been given a Gateway modem by Telstra?
Author: gerijones    Time: 5-29-2016 22:54     Subject: Reply 28#28 gdi3's post

Yes have the gateway modem with Telstra....... and what do you know..... can get it on my phone when not connected to the gateway....... WTF
Author: gdi3    Time: 5-29-2016 23:31     Subject: Reply 29#29 gerijones's post

Yes, I rang Telstra this arvo and told them I could connect at work using mobile and laptop but cannot connect on either while at home. They seem to think it could be the Gateway firmware or some software upgrade they made to the modem on Friday night. (I had the Gateway modem installed over a week ago and no issue with connecting to Vip site until Saturday morning). So they will either fix it remotely or install another (new) modem. Suggest you call Telstra and log the issue with them. phone 133 933

Ahhhh.... super thanks for the info. Will get onto it ASAP....

I use a VPN service called Private Internet Access.
It's a paid service which anonymizes your web traffic by using proxies in many countries
Author: woothdye    Time: 5-30-2016 06:30     Subject: Reply 30#30 gdi3's post

I don't have a Telstra gateway. It's not your modem. My guess is they have a blocked port or something. It probably occurred while they were trying to fix some other stuff up they've had lately. I'm routing my traffic through California US at the moment and because they can't tell what my packets contain, short of blocking all my internet traffic, they can't fully block my traffic

I'm in Canada and the site was not loading for three days past. Today was the first I was able to access.
Any reply from the administrators, any thing at all?

Author: waterlilybarb    Time: 6-6-2016 12:26     Subject: Reply 44#44 wert's post

I'm in Canada and had no problems accessing the site over the weekend. I would think the problem was at your end.
Author: gdi3    Time: 6-10-2016 13:02

Same problem again! Worked almost oaky all week and now again cannot connect to the VIP site using Telstra!

I just realized this myself. Damn it was working fine last night

Author: brace2011    Time: 6-11-2016 18:07

Hi I'm from Adelaide and last night was the first time I can't log in either. Also with Telstra which sounds like that's the problem.

Has any trick worked yet. Missy my viptv

Author: waterlilybarb    Time: 6-11-2016 18:16     Subject: Reply 48#48 brace2011's post

I think you'll have to read through the thread to see what other Telstra users have tried.
Author: gdi3    Time: 6-12-2016 02:10     Subject: Reply 48#48 brace2011's post

Refer to member Woothdye's Post at 5-30-2016 06:07 on page 2 of this thread. That's the only way I have been able to watch VIPtv since Telstra stuffed it up.
Author: woothdye    Time: 6-14-2016 09:12

Mine is currently working without the VPN. Lets hope it sticks this time

Author: shinny    Time: 6-14-2016 11:12     Subject: Reply 51#51 woothdye's post

It's seems odd that they can't sustain the fix. Did anyone get to the bottom of why it's blocked intermittently with them?
Author: woothdye    Time: 6-14-2016 16:20     Subject: Reply 52#52 shinny's post

Not sure, but at my best guess I would say that with the parts NBN rollout using the existing copper infrastructure they are having massive glitches when they connect new with old and the internet goes down in areas. I believe that when they attempt to reroute and quickfix those outages they are screwing with the ports and inadvertently blocking the site.
Author: gdi3    Time: 6-14-2016 23:51     Subject: Reply 52#52 shinny's post

I received a call from Telstra and from what I could make out there was something wrong "with DNS", Anyway, I tried the site tonight and it's working again ... for how long I don't know.
Author: shinny    Time: 6-15-2016 00:44     Subject: Reply 53#53 woothdye's post

It sounds like they actually haven't a clue what they are doing.
Author: shinny    Time: 6-15-2016 00:45     Subject: Reply 54#54 gdi3's post

Sounds like "cop out" speak really. Terrible for you all. Have you any alternative providers you could move to?
Author: woothdye    Time: 6-15-2016 08:38     Subject: Reply 56#56 shinny's post

They are the tier 1 and tier 2 provider so they really are the best option at the moment if you are in any sort of remote area. I'll be switching over to the NBN next week so hopefully it won't have the same problem.
Author: gdi3    Time: 6-15-2016 22:48     Subject: Reply 55#55 shinny's post

That should be their new logo: Telstra - we haven't got a clue.
Author: shinny    Time: 6-16-2016 11:54     Subject: Reply 58#58 gdi3's post

It has a certain ring to it alright, not a good one mind you!!
Author: shinny    Time: 6-16-2016 11:55     Subject: Reply 57#57 woothdye's post

Hopefully that'll be the end of the issues for you. You'll have to let us know when you switch if it worked out ok!
