Update: We are having reports from our Mac users that the issues have been resolved for most of them. Please test out your MAC and let us know here.

I know most of you are experiencing much difficulty with the upgrade.  The changes have made the site much like www.movieonline.cc.  HERE is a link to the MAC OS X Real Player Troubleshooting Guide(Solutions &Tips) on that forum, which has some updates from our own.

We will update our own Mac troubleshooting guide once you let us know if the suggestions there are as useful for our site.  I hope this provides useful information to you and enables you to resume your viewing experience.

Hi Barb

Thanks for the link

I will try the hints BUT I doubt that it will have much impact as you don't get as far as being able to open realplayer, the problem occurs as the browser pop-up tries to connect to the server. The attempt to contact the server totally shuts down any browser not just firefox.

Just so you know

Will let you know if it helps tho

Author: philryk    Time: 5-23-2009 11:29

Hi guys,
thank you so much for the efford and trying to help us. I tried it and unfortunately it didnt work as well. Restarted and reintalled Real Player, tried both Safari and Firefox, and still nothing...
Still hopeful though

From what I have tried the site works best on Google Chrome, So Try That And See If That Works If Not Then I'm Sure Admin Will Sort It Out As Quick As Possible

Ok, Did not know that

I'm sorry to hear that.  I do know there were initial problems for MAC users on the movie site as well, so there must be something in the code that their tech team did to fix it.  I'm know ours is busy working on the problem.  I'm just sorry Phil that you're not able to view while you have time off.

I found another suggestion from the Admin on the other site which helped some MAC users there.
Quote:
etworm: This problem is caused by the latest version of RealPlayer. Some members said that they updated their RealPlayer and could not play video in firefox any more.
Some language package of RealPlayer does not work well with firefox. We strongly recommend our members to use English version of RealPlayer as well as download it from official site: http://forms.real.com/real/realone/intl/focus.html
I'm not sure if it's the same RP download as the one in the troubleshooting thread because it's on a different page than the other one, but our mod kwargalla is a MAC user and she found that after installing from that link she was able to view the movies with no problem.  Unfortunately, I don't have a MAC to try it out on 1st, so your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Author: philryk    Time: 5-23-2009 12:19

Aw Thanks Barb you really are trying hard here!

I will do another clean install from that link and let you know in about 10 mins
Author: philryk    Time: 5-23-2009 12:39

Sorry it didn't help thank you very much tho
Author: waterlilybarb    Time: 5-23-2009 12:43     Subject: Reply 12#12 philryk's post

Bummer.   Sorry it doesn't help as that's all I've been able to find so far.  If anyone finds a solution please post it, though I suspect it will have to be fixed by the techs.  That being the case, the RP you have now downloaded should be compatible once the bugs are worked out. **crossing fingers**
Author: philryk    Time: 5-23-2009 13:01

Yeah Im sure its a case of just wait for the techs

But once again thank you for trying so hard to help - very much appreciated

I will just  hover on the forum to await a response/update

I'm only to happy to help.  I just wish I could have found a solution for you, but I guess this is part of the growing pains.  Don't know if you play games or not, but are you able to access the game site?  It can be fun and it kills some time too.

I have had a pm response from admin re: Mac issues, asking if I was deducted points when clicking (I must be honest I stupidly don't know!) So it seems hopeful that they will get the bugs ironed out soon

YAY!

I will post this in the poll thread as well as people seem to be asking there

Again thanks to all the mods .... it must be frustrating to you as well

I just wanted to thank you guys once again for the efford in trying to make this work. Unfortunately the new update hasnt helped me. Has it helped anyone?
Many many many thanks!

And I wanted to publicly (I have already done this through PM) apologize to Bala for the message I left on the other Forum yesterday. I was in a bad mood and it rubbed me the wrong way. I am sorry, Bala.

Hey guys I have tried several browsers trying to get it to work with no success UNTILL I tried removing the safari 4 beta and went back to the regular Safari 3.2.3.

Now it is working perfect !

Here is the link for safari 4 uninstaller (http://www.apple.com/safari/download/) download it open the DMG file and click on the safari 4 beta uninstaller and it will remove safari 4 and put back the older safari.

If you try it and it works Please post to let all of the fellow mac users know about it.

I know this is not the best workaround but it sure beats watching shows in VM Ware, Parallels, or GOD forbid boot camp.

p.s. Also you need to be using realplayer 10 NOT realplayer 11.

Thank you waterlillybard! I will definetely try it when I get back!

The version of safari i used to test originally is 3.2.3

Gonna try the site again tho as it seems like some people have had luck getting it work today so fingers crossed

I sure hope you have success.  Being a week day the site is bound to be less busy than on the weekend, so hopefully it will make loading quicker, and thus easier to see if the suggestion works for you.

Thanks SO much for your assistance & taking the time to provide feedback.

hello barb,

first, I would say that the new site and its shows works on my little macbook. I got a PM from lbjedward on an early hour of monday (1:04AM Tokyo time) asking me to test haiwai.hk on my mac machine. I checked his message during my working time so got no time to check the site and PM him that I will do it when I got home later that day... So when I got a chance to check it at home, unfortunately, haiwai.hk doesn't work. but with viptv.net it works properly without any problem happens. no browser crashing, no glitch, no skipping. it runs smoothly and it load fast. I informed it to lbjedward afterwards. I am not a techie person. I did nothing with my macbook. I got a latest version of safari and a real player 11 for mac.

Another thing is, I used Safari for my PC and it works too. Only a little bit slow in loading. At home I always use my PC for viewing shows because of its huge display.

By the way, I got a PM again from lbjedward informing me that they ruled out haiwai.hk coz it doesn't work with mac and they decoded again the viptv.net for mac.

Right now still working with my macbook... Hope it will works with you too! Goodluck!!!

Thanks for your assistance and feedback rickman.  I'm not sure why it still isn't working for some of our Mac users, but we're hopeful that the entire issue will be sorted soon.  I'm really happy that the issue seems to have been resolved for most of those who have a Mac.  I'm working from a PC myself (though I dream of having a new Macbook) so I haven't been able to try any of the suggestions myself.

We are very grateful for members, like yourself and the others who have posted in here, who have been so helpful and willing to provide useful, detailed information.  It's due to your help that the techs have been able to fix as much as they have already.

Mac. Switched to Real Player 10. Now I can't even tell if that helped because the home page for each show won't even load now. Just spins and spins in Firefox. Already PM'd so hopefully that might help but just wanted to let others know that it's still not working for some Mac users.
Author: waterlilybarb    Time: 5-25-2009 16:57     Subject: Reply 32#32 myluckyrabbitfo's post

For Mac - Safari seems to work better.  HERE is a link to the download of version 3.2.3.  Also, make sure that you did a clean uninstall of RP 11.

Clean uninstall directions:

Clean uninstall.....
After you uninstall RP, you will see a pop-up after you uninstall RP, that it was unable to remove some of the RP files. If all of the files are not removed it can cause many problems, some very small, some very bothersome. So it's best, to do a "clean uninstall". To do that, first go to Start> go to Control Panel> go to Add & Remove Programs> scroll to Real player> then uninstall Real Player, close Control Panel.
Go to Start> to My Computer> to C-Drive> to Program Files> to "Real" & (R-click on "Real" and delete the file).
Then while you are still in Program Files double click on Common Files> to "Real" & (R-click on the "Real" file and delete the file). Then reinstall a fresh RP.

Its fixed!

Had a pm from admin saying they have disabled the pop up window for Mac users and it automatically loads Realplayer and damn me ...... it works *yay*

Thank you so very much to all the admins and mods who tried so hard to find workarounds whilst they were working on it xx

Author: rickman    Time: 5-26-2009 15:33     Subject: Initial Pop Up Window

thought the initial pop up window was disabled for mac but it still pop up only that it is blank... it's more ok if they will absolutely disable that one. the loading in real player on mac is faster than loading in PC... can admin also just disable the initial pop up window for PC? Perhaps it will help also load faster like in mac... just an observation...
Author: brittmarie033    Time: 5-26-2009 19:31     Subject: Incredibly long load time...Mac problem?

Hi
I wasn't sure if the Mac problem had been fixed or not because it seemed that I couldn't get anything to load. It doesn't crash my browser anymore but now asks for me to choose either realplayer or another application and when I choose realplayer it opens up a realplayer window but then nothing happens...I tried everything from updating everything, switching back and forth from Safari to Firefox, restarting, even uninstalling and reinstalling RealPlayer but nothing worked. Then I had completely given up and was doing other things on the internet and forgot that I had left the window up when I finally heard the show start playing but it was almost 9-10 minutes later! Is anyone else having this problem? Is this what it's going to be like from now on with the new site? Sorry don't mean to be a pain....just wondering.
Author: rickman    Time: 5-26-2009 21:47     Subject: reply 41#41 brittmarie's post

It was fixed as per update by admin on 5/26. please check here - http://www.friendvista.com/forum ... p;page=9#pid115269. And its now working to most Mac users in the site except for some that still having troubles like yours... The tech people disabled the initial pop up window so your show will open and play at real player directly when you click on it. Try to downgrade your safari to version 3.2.3 and your real player to version 10 and see if this work for you... goodluck!

Note: its working on my macbook and it load fast!
Author: lbjedward    Time: 6-1-2009 02:23

If Quicktime pops up instead of Realplayer,
Please go to Realplayer: Help---Reset Realplayer---then click on "Next" to the end.
It will solve this problem.
Author: myluckyrabbitfo    Time: 10-3-2009 23:09

I still  get the pop up window. how do i make it go away? also, is the only option really to downgrade safari... that  will impact my entire web experience for every site i go to!

Ok tks Barb.

Potterdog I'm not a MAC user but did a bit of research on the net and came across these two pieces of advice:

1) If you set your new SL Safari to launch in 32-bit mode (you can do so in the Info Window), everything works fine!

2) I did a reformatting of the disk, and installed Snow Leopard as a clean install, and restored my Accounts, Settings and Applications from my "Carbon Copy Cloner" (CCC) backup using "Migration Assistant". Everything, including Real Player and BBC iPlayer worked fine without having to set Safari to 32-bit mode!

Maybre one of these two things will help. Let us know.

Can you downgrade to RP11?  If the suggestions Shinny provided didn't help, try that - LBJ, our admin sent me a PM with that suggestion for you.

Please let us know how it goes.

Author: myluckyrabbitfo    Time: 7-16-2012 19:40

Glad to read this as I was feeling crazy. The site used to work perfectly on my MAC and now shows take forever to load. Have tried different browsers. Different settings. Waste points left right and center just trying to watch because sometimes it works fine and other times it plays for two  seconds then loads for five to ten. I really miss the old site. And please don't tell me to PM for points back because I never get a response and gave up about 100 points ago. Have been supporting you for years but should I realistically move on if I have a mac? Doesn't seem to be a solution. Sad. It was a great thing while it lasted.
Author: waterlilybarb    Time: 7-16-2012 20:55     Subject: Reply 52#52 myluckyrabbitfo's post

This thread is over 2 years old.  Were you, by chance, ticking the box that said "save copy to inbox" when sending PMs to lbjedward?  That box is now gone, but any messages sent with that box ticked, were not sent at all, except to yourself.  LBJ DOES indeed reimburse lost points.  Many of our members are Mac users and don't have a problem.  Are you using the Flash site now?  Most find that it is easier to load shows with it.  You might also want to check out our Flash Player Trouble Shooting / Helpful Tips Thread, as it has tips for both PC & MAC users.

If you weren't getting a response from admin, you should have posted or PMd one of the moderators so we could have helped you.  I know Flash isn't ideal for everyone, but it is supported by more devices and less prone to cause compatibility issues than RP was whenever it updated.  I suppose we can't please everyone.
