The Lottery Premieres on Lifetime on July 20, 2014

Lifetime brings viewers to the year 2025 with the premiere of the provocative new conspiracy thriller, "The Lottery" on Sunday, July 20, at 10PM ET/PT. Currently filming in Montreal, the series stars Marley Shelton ("Eleventh Hour"), Michael Graziadei ("American Horror Story"), David Alpay ("The Vampire Diaries"), Athena Karkanis ("Low Winter Sun"), Yul Vasquez ("Magic City"), Shelley Conn ("Terra Nova") and Martin Donovan ("Homeland").

Set within a dystopian future driven by a global fertility crisis, The Lottery reveals a world staring down the barrel of impending extinction as women have mysteriously stopped bearing children. After years of research, Dr. Alison Lennon (Shelton) and her team remarkably fertilize 100 embryos. However, her victory is short-lived when the Director of the U.S. Fertility Commission, Darius Hayes (Donovan), takes government control of the lab and informs the President (Vasquez) of the monumental scientific breakthrough. To determine which women will carry the prized embryos to term, Chief of Staff Vanessa Keller (Karkanis) convinces the President to hold a national lottery and a battle over the control of the 100 embryos begins. Michael Graziadei stars as Kyle, a recovering alcoholic and single father of one of the last children born in the country, while David Alpay stars as James, Alison’s colleague and lab assistant. Shelley Conn portrays Gabrielle, the First Lady of the United States.

"The Lottery" is written by Timothy J. Sexton ("Children of Men"), who also serves as executive producer alongside Rick Eid ("Hostages") and Dawn Olmstead (" Prison Break"). Danny Cannon ("CSI") directed and executive produced the pilot, which is from Grady Girl Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television. Ten one-hour episodes have been ordered for this season.

The writer of Children of Men brings his ideas to the small screen.....show seems interesting enough but, I don't see it being on Lifetime Tv  though.....let's see how it plays out. Hopefully it gets added to the site.

it's an odd choice for Lifetime but i guess they expand their audience since it has reputation for being old people channel

Why does lifetime insist on putting children kidnapping situation in everything they do , it's not enough for them make 50 movies with this situation now they incorporating this into a tv series is priceless.

This was ok pilot and certainly a surprise they could make a show that keep my interest throughout if it wasn't lifetime watermark in the corner it could pass for network show. I just think this would better major network like NBC or ABC but i read comments that people avoid watching this because it's on lifetime. I really hope it last more than 1 season.

So getting water boarded and than told we sorry but you can keep your job because we need you to be the face behind the lottery was unbelievable and than finding out she had no choice otherwise her friend could get arrested meant they have leverage on her .

That was a tough decision letting her boyfriend die just so that her boss could stay in office .

She was lucky she was assign secret service detail which keeps her safe and finding out this situation seem been created years before meaning someone knew this was going happen .

Things are getting more interesting but finding out she was daughter of him was nice revelation

The more i watch this show the more i get discourage about the American government  . What is so frustrating is that everyone got agenda on the show and more character we are introduced to more complex the the situation is going to be. I have to say lifetime have never done a show that has turned a sci-fi show into political drama.

Another ok episode another dead guy and the show keeps going but it will be interesting whether she will take that women deal if she choosen .

Glad he told her what the group was planning but asking him to set up a meeting with them is her only choice if she can't trust the government.

Finding out who Mr Torino was tricky but getting bottom of it bought a revelation none of us expected which president was responsible for fertility crisis .

He finally rescued his son which is great and his wife confront him about his involvement behind fertility crisis but i knew she angry but setting him up to get killed was one hell of a payback .

Lifetime has made it official — opting not to review The Lottery for a second season. The cancellation was considered a foregone conclusion after the futuristic drama’s freshman season averaged a paltry 700,000 in Live+Same Day. Compare that to the 1.8 million average for the second season of Devious Maids, which was recently renewed for a third season.
