About the Show:
In Treatment follows therapist Paul Weston, his patients, and his family. Four out of five episodes focus on Paul's sessions with his patients and every fifth episode has him seeing his own therapist to discuss both the professional and the personal parts of his life.

The series, based on a hit Israeli show, BeTipul, aired five nights a week for almost nine weeks on HBO in the first season. The second season, while keeping the episodic focus and weekly timeline, changed its airing schedule to two days a week.

Season 1



Episode 1. Laura - Week One
Laura is upset by several events, including an ultimatum from her boyfriend about their relationship, of the night before her therapy appointment with Paul, to whom she confesses something she's been hiding since their first meeting a year ago. .

Episode 2. Alex - Week One
Alex is a Navy fighter pilot who recently completed a mission to bomb a building in Baghdad that was thought to be an insurgent safe house but later discovered to be a school; sixteen children died and there is now a price on his head. Additionally, while at his home base on leave, he exerted himself running so much that he had a heart attack and was clinically dead. Alex has chosen Paul as his therapist because he is "the best," but Alex is also testing him, being aggressive in conversation and attempting to control what they talk about and when.

Episode 3. Sophie - Week One
Sophie, a 16 year old Olympic hopeful, visits Paul for the first time so that he can give his "professional opinion" on her sanity for a lawsuit involving a car crash that injured her while she was on her bicycle. Though she does not remember the accident, Sophie is sure that she did not purposely ride her bike into the car due to suicidal tendencies, as the insurance company claims.

Episode 4. Jake and Amy - Week One
Jake and Amy's third couples counseling session begins with Amy being late for the third time. Jake responds with suspicion and anger, upset that Amy may have arranged an abortion without telling him. The couple has come to Paul to come to a decision about whether to abort the pregnancy that happened a year after stopping five years of fertility treatments in an effort to have a second child.

Episode 5. Paul and Gina - Week One
Paul visits Gina, his former supervisor, because he feels that he is losing patience with his patients. They haven't seen each other in eight years–since Paul severed their relationship because he felt that she was interfering with rather than guiding his practice. In that time, Gina's husband died, she turned 60, and she retired, intending to spend her time writing. During their session, Paul's relationships with his patients, wife, and three children are discussed.

Episode 6. Laura - Week Two
A week after her tumultuous session, Laura returns in high spirits and with great news, but Paul seems unwilling to let her enjoy it.  

Episode 7. Alex - Week Two
Alex returns from Iraq and explains to Paul about the area he had bombed, but Paul is left at a loss for words when he reveals the real reason for his second visit.

Episode 8. Sophie - Week Two
Having arrived for her second session soaking wet, Sophie puts in a complaint about the other gymnasts, and Paul wants an explanation of a phone call he received before her arrival.

Episode 9. Jake and Amy - Week Two
Jake and Amy's session is cut short when a medical emergency arises. Paul has a contentious discussion about the state of their marriage with his wife, Kate.

Episode 10. Paul and Gina - Week Two
Paul, suffering from a terrible cold, explains to Gina his version of the previous days fight with Kate, mainly over their family's well-being and troubled marriage.

Episode 11. Laura - Week Three
Paul's topic of discussion revolves around Laura's lateness for her session, which makes him wonder if the sessions are helping or causing more harm.

Episode 12. Alex - Week Three
Alex is hung up on talking about the chance meeting he had with Paul's other patient, Laura, but Paul has other issues he wants to discuss such as why Alex left his wife and about his relationship with his son.

Episode 13. Sophie - Week Three
Sophie's third session turns sorrowful after a joyous beginning; after recalling the breakup of her parents, she explains her relationship with her coach and his family and she pushes Paul to finish with her evaluation.   

Episode 14. Jake and Amy - Week Three
Accusations fly when Jake interrupts Paul and Amy while they are discussing her recent miscarriage. Jake is under the suspicion that Amy wants to cheat on him with Paul, her boss or anyone who seems important.

Episode 15. Paul and Gina - Week Three
Paul describes his relationship with Laura while revealing his emotions about Kate's recent affair and how it affects the kids.

Episode 16. Laura - Week Four
Laura recounts her first romantic tryst with Alex, in great detail, as Paul tries to hide his emotions..

Episode17. Alex - Week Four
Alex arrives early to his session, and tells Paul his version of what happened with Laura since last week.

Episode 18. Sophie - Week Four
Sophie shows up after a night of partying without her casts, and has a breakdown as she recalls her accident.

Episode 19. Jake and Amy - Week Four
Jake and Amy talk about the history of their relationship, and the session ends in another fight.

Episode 20. Paul and Gina - Week Four
Despite the stressful events of the past week, Paul is in an uncharacteristically good mood, but he is still upset about his past conflicts with Gina, as well as her current thoughts on his experience with patient and therapist boundaries.

Episode 21. Laura - Week Five
Laura's session is nearly disastrous when her days as an adolescent after her mother's death are brought up, including her relationship with an older man.

Episode 22. Alex - Week Five
Paul tries to get Alex to open up about his father during their therapy session, but the session turns hot when Alex turns the tables on Paul by asking him about his relationship with Laura.

Episode 23. Sophie - Week Five
Paul gets a front row view to Sophie's relationship with her mother when Sophie begrudgingly allows her mother to attend the session. Paul makes a deal with Sophie to continue with her sessions.

Episode 24. Jake and Amy - Week Five
Jake and Amy deal with the fallout of last week's session and their decision to separate.

Episode 25. Paul and Gina - Week Five
Kate and Paul have their first couples counseling session with Gina and they discuss Kate's affair and the relationship between Paul and one of his patients.

Episode 26. Laura - Week Six
Paul makes a point to Laura about fantasy and reality by using his own past experiences.

Episode 27. Alex - Week Six
One of Alex's dreams provokes a strong reaction from him and a possible revelation.

Episode 28. Sophie - Week Six
A discussion about Sophie's issues with food leads to an exploration of her feelings toward her father.

Episode 29. Jake and Amy - Week Six
Amy is warned by Paul not to reject Jake, who has been trying hard to improve their relationship.

Episode 30. Paul and Gina - Week Six
A heated argument ensues when questions arise about Kate's role in Paul's life.

Episode 31. Laura - Week Seven
With Laura having no appointment, Paul has a discussion of recent troubles with his college-aged son Ian and daughter Rosie.

Episode 32. Alex - Week Seven
Paul believes that Alex still has some issues to cover despite his insistence that he is ready for combat, especially after he reveals an incident about his son's birthday party.

Episode 33. Sophie - Week Seven
Despite the fact that Sophie's father is never around, she feels compelled to defend her relationship with him to Paul.

Episode 34. Jake and Amy - Week Seven
Jake is left shocked and hurt after Amy makes revelations about the day her father died.

Episode 35. Paul and Gina - Week Seven
Paul reluctantly agrees to take part in Gina's therapeutic experiment, while trying to accept that Kate and Rosie have been keeping secrets from him.

Episode 36. Laura - Week Eight
An unexpected tragedy leads Paul to see Laura again.

Episode 37. Alex - Week Eight
Paul receives a visit to his office by a grieving parent. The talk becomes heated at times, but Paul tactfully, yet firmly, defends his occupation.

Episode 38. Sophie - Week Eight
Paul needs to convince Sophie to not blame herself for the faults of her parents.

Episode 39. Jake and Amy - Week Eight
Jake talks about his late night visit to see his overachieving parents and the strain on their relationship. Kate comes to a conclusion about remaining in therapy sessions.

Episode 40. Paul and Gina - Week Eight
Gina and Paul have their most confrontational session yet after his ambivalence about the benefits received from therapy and his recent personal setbacks cause an unexpected reaction from Gina.

Episode 41. Sophie - Week Nine
While on her way to therapy with Paul, Sophie is surprised by her father, but is unsure of whether to let him back in her life after all they have been through.

Episode 42. Jake and Amy - Week Nine
Jake and Amy reflect on how therapy has changed their relationship, as Paul helps them in mapping out the consequences on how their latest decisions will affect their future together.

Episode 43. Paul and Gina - Week Nine
Paul finally is able to contact Laura, and has intentions of pursuing her.

Season 2



Episode 1. Mia - Week One
Recently divorced Paul is now living in Brooklyn, and reconnects with a former patient/lawyer, Mia, whose firm helps him with a legal problem.

Episode 2. April - Week One
Paul is taken aback when his new patient, April, an architecture student, doesn't want her parents to know of her serious health problem.

Episode 3. Oliver - Week One
Oliver is a sixth grade student who is brought to Paul by his divorcing parents because he is having difficulty while staying at his father's new house.

Episode 4. Walter - Week One
Walter, an influential business executive, has been asked by his wife to seek help concerning his anxiety issues.

Episode 5. Gina - Week One
Paul hopes aboard a train to head to Maryland for a session with Gina, and discusses his legal problems and changes his life has seen.

Episode 6. Mia - Week Two
Mia's first session has her admitting to Paul that she was hoping he'd be impressed by her job and that she disclosed her relationship with a married man.

Episode 7. April - Week Two
April talks about her ex-boyfriend and his newest relationship, and their reaction to her condition she is currently in.

Episode 8. Oliver - Week Two
Oliver talks to Paul about the problems he's been having at school, but admits he hasn't told his parents out of fear it will cause them to fight even more.

Episode 9. Walter - Week Two
Paul tries to get Walter to acknowledge that he has panic attacks and that they may have their origins in a tragic event from when he was a child. Meanwhile, Rosie comes for a visit and is upset to learn her father is involved in a lawsuit.

Episode 10. Gina - Week Two
Paul is unsure about continuing his therapy with Gina, but winds up bringing up a teen romance and how it relates to his mom's first suicide attempt.

Episode 11. Mia - Week Three
Paul is punished by Mia for being late on Monday morning by bringing up Laura's deposition in the Alex Prince case and imagining all the details of Laura and Paul's relationship.

Episode 12. April - Week Three
April has been up all night working on a project and asks for an earlier session because she doesn't feel she can stay awake until her usual time. She becomes angered though when a discussion about a childhood accident turns into a conversation about her mother's devotion to her autistic brother.  

Episode 13. Oliver - Week Three
Oliver discusses his week of staying at his father's home which leads to a few surprising disclosures. One includes his confusion over a specific family matter just before his parents' separation.  

Episode 14. Walter - Week Three
Walter talks about his recent visit to Rwanda to see his daughter, all while trying to keep up with disastrous business emergency.

Episode 15. Gina - Week Three
Paul is encouraged by Gina to talk about his father's declining health and what effect his feeling of abandonment may have on his relationship with his kids.

Episode 16. Mia - Week Four
Mia bursts into the Monday morning session, excitedly remembering all the lurid details of her weekend's wild debauchery. But Paul wants to concern themselves over her Sunday brunch with her father.

Episode 17. April - Week Four
April's health continues to be a concern for Paul, as she seems more concerned about her autistic brother's condition than her own.

Episode 18. Oliver - Week Four
As Bess readies for a well-needed vacation, she gushes over how well Oliver has done, but Paul is skeptical that her son could have changed that quickly.

Episode 19. Walter - Week Four
Having to deal with the aftermath of his company's crisis, Walter looks back at the loyalty towards the family who owns it and the media's perception of him.

Episode 20. Gina - Week Four
Gina gives Paul some criticism for his constant complaints about what's missing from his life, and urges him to make peace with his bedridden father.

Episode 21. Mia - Week Five
Among the areas touched on for this session between Paul and Mia include a discussion about mortality, being alone and making up for lost time.

Episode 22. April - Week Five
April talks about her life since starting chemo and how one of her friends has reacted to the news of her cancer.

Episode 23. Oliver - Week Five
Oliver's father is worried over his change for the worse concerning his behavior in school and at home. His father is also preoccupied by his own problems.

Episode 24. Walter - Week Five
Paul fears that Walter's recent behavior will do him harm.

Episode 25. Gina - Week Five
Paul is pressed by Gina to talk about his father. Alex's father gives Paul something else to think over.

Episode 26. Mia - Week Six
Paul and Mia discuss her troubled relationship with her mom.

Episode 27. April - Week Six
One of Alex's dreams provokes a strong reaction from him and a possible revelation.

Episode 28. Oliver - Week Six
Neither Paul nor Oliver can wholly endorse the radical idea for the future of their family which Luke and Bess suggested.

Episode 29. Walter - Week Six
Paul suggests to Walter that he leaves his corporate attitude in the past.

Episode 30. Gina - Week Six
Gina and Paul clash when it's suggested that she's not personally invested in her patients.

Episode 31. Mia - Week Seven
Mia changes her direction after her plan of coaxing Paul in a trap falls short.

Episode 32. April - Week Seven
April's revelation begins a discussion concerning her anger problems and her future plans.

Episode 33. Oliver - Week Seven
Paul discusses Oliver's fears about his parents' needing to solve their problems.  

Episode 34. Walter - Week Seven
Paul attempts to have Walter see his life beyond being a CEO and as a person.

Episode 35. Gina - Week Seven
Paul and Gina look to the future into uncharted territory for their relationship.
