Season 2



Episode 1:
Paul Herd and his pregnant wife Julie turn to Monroe for help. Paul has been refused surgery for a dangerous neurological condition and Monroe has to decide whether to operate which puts him in conflict with Gillespie. Monroe has now moved into his new bachelor pad, while Shepherd and Bremner are now the proud parents to baby Louis.

Episode 2:
Gillespie has managed to deal Monroe a tough hand. He can only have one registrar on his team, but trainees Springer and Wilson are both capable of filling the position. He is going to have to find out who is the better surgeon. Shelley Maxwell is a teenage girl whose brain shunt, fitted when she was a newborn, is starting to malfunction. It’s time for her to have her brain’s third ventricle punctured by Monroe so that her cerebrospinal fluid can drain correctly. Lynn Monkford is resigned to the fact that she’ll die of cancer within a year. Monroe builds up a close relationship with her husband and can make that year worth living if he operates to reduce her brain tumour. Monroe is powerless to stop his son’s impending marriage.

Episode 3:
Shepherd and Witney reel from their liaison. Monroe ends up being without purpose following a catastrophic operation. Some grave complications mean Bremner's operation on a five-year-old refugee becomes a race against time.

Episode 4:
Monroe is being kept busy pursuing Lizzie and playing agony aunt to Shepherd. An awkward, violent woman shows up at St Matthew’s with a deadly cerebral aneurysm. The neurosurgeon turns to Bremner for help to save her life.

Episode 5:
Monroe and Bremner are involved attempting parallel miracles as they attempt to cure the epilepsy of a middle-aged woman and are involved in the heart transplant of a teenage girl.

Episode 6:
Nick’s stag party ends up being ruined after a really bad traffic accident means the whole team is needed at the hospital. With the hospital's facilities stretched to breaking point, Bremner and Shepherd come to a crossroads in their relationship.
