The Firm Season 1 General Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

The Firm Premiered on NBC on January 08, 2012

Picking up 10 years after the events of the 1993 feature film, this new series finds lawyer Mitch McDeere, who worked with the FBI to bring down a Memphis law firm associated with the Chicago mob, coming out of near total isolation after his family spent a decade in the Federal Witness Protection Program.

The McDeeres are ready to return to their old lives and leave the past behind them - but the mob has a long memory. Add that to Mitch's new association with another firm that may or may not be involved in something illicit, and the path ahead is dangerous and unknown. As old enemies return and new threats emerge, Mitch has no choice but to fight back if he ever hopes to return to some sense of normalcy. But can one man fight a criminal conspiracy? At least Mitch has one thing going for him: he's done it before.

The Firm Extended Promo

1x01 Pilot

Claire's comment about being screwed on a technicality was amusing considering she's a kid and her dad tried to give her pancakes for a birthday cake and that was a nice recommendation from the judge, destroying the dead kids reputation in the hope to save his client who may be guilty was sad

1x02 Chapter Two

The dead kid father hiring a hit-man to kill the other kid was a surprise but that was a risky deal to keep the father out of prison and Mitchell new asociacion sound like he is only doing it for their resources for his own case and they also have their own agenda

I watch both of these as one episode but it was good start but it reminds me of Damages for some reason as quite similar concept but at least we know why they hired him which is great and his journey to discover them should be interesting. .The father was lucky for that deal it could been a lot worse

Chapter Three

Well i have to say this was good episode boy confessing that he accidentally ran over his girlfriend but having serial killer confess to and getting off caused another revelation 6 women he murdered but they got him at the end. Look like each episode will show more on how it got to that situation similar to Damages format.

Chapter Four

Well at least he got her off but impressed how they could remotely wipe the computer

The remotely wipe was cleaver but trust the ladies to be busy talking at the same time and he was lucky to get a not guilty verdict but what the cop said at the lift was interesting

TOP

1x05 Chapter Five

The way Ray got the key impression was amusing and the difficult case of defending Judd Grafton, a gambler wrongly accused of murder and willing to take the risk of a guilty verdict to protect his friend so the not guilty verdict was a surprise, i would of liked to of known what they got in the settlement case

NBC To Finally Awaken In March, While The Firm Gets Put To Bed

Mitch McDeere can finally stop running. NBC seemed to have high hopes for their recent continuation of the John Grisham novel and hit Tom Cruise film The Firm, but it stumbled right out of the starting gate with bad reviews and a rather dire 1.4 rating for it's premiere episode. The numbers have taken a nose dive from even that low plateau in the ensuing weeks, with the most recent airing garnering less than 3 million viewers. Not too surprisingly, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that while contractual obligations will most likely require the peacock network to air all 22 episodes, the show will be shipped off to Saturday nights at 9pm beginning February 11th.

This of course means that The Firm is all but officially canceled. If Friday nights are the network "death slot", Saturdays are the embalming room. This marks the latest of a long list of failures for NBC this season (and for the last several), and while NBC will most likely recover eventually, right now they must feel like they're out on the mat as the ref counts to 8. The news isn't all bad for the network and it's viewers though.

Starting March 1st, The Firm's timeslot of Thursdays at 10pm will be filled by the much anticipated Awake

1x06 Chapter Six

The Judge did sound like he was offering leniency for Mitch's client but Mitch was blindsided when his client was found guilty of assault but breaking into his chambers was a close call but the slap was amusing

What a dilemma for Mitch when he must convince Nate who is slow to go against his own brother and become a witness for the prosecution but his brother is willing to take the deal so Mitch would spend life in prison
