About the Show:
Mr. Selfridge recounts the real life story of the flamboyant and visionary American founder of Selfridge's, London's lavish department store. Set in 1909 London, when women were reveling in a new sense of freedom and modernity, it follows Harry Gordon Selfridge ('Mile a Minute Harry'), a man with a mission to make shopping as thrilling as sex. Pioneering and reckless, with an almost manic energy, Harry created a theater of retail where any topic or trend that was new, exciting, entertaining - or just eccentric - was showcased.

Season 1



Episode 1: (Jan/06/2013)
In London, 1908, Agnes Tower, who works at Gamages department store, finds her life about to change following an encounter with Harry Gordon Selfridge. He is finalising his great plans for the biggest and finest department store the world has ever seen in Oxford Street. His family also show up in London from Chicago. Word about the impending store opening begins to spread around London, and Agnes approaches Harry for a job. He remembers her, and agrees to give her a job. Opening day is a great success, attracting huge crowds but the takings are not brilliant.

Episode 2: (Jan/13/2013)
The store has now been open for a few months and the displays are still as seductive as on opening day, and the staff are poised for action. The only thing the store is missing though is customers. Harry is confident though on the outside but privately he is worried. He goes to the country with Frank, where they wait in a field and then a flying machine emerges from the clouds and flies overheard. Harry manages to secures it for a grand exhibition in store.

Episode 3: (Jan/20/2013)
Harry and Ellen are enjoying their new love affair and dance into the night at an apartment that Harry has got Ellen. She ends up talking about her father and reveals that her real name is Joyce. Agnes's nasty drunk father called Reg has been fired from his job and he ends up losing his temper with his daughter, hitting her across the face.

Episode 4: (Jan/27/2013)
The store's Head of Fashion Miss Bunting is caught stealing silks and lace from the shop floor, and Harry fires her on the spot. Agnes and George find themselvesbeing hounded by a drunken Reg. Ellen is working herself up trying to think why Harry hasn’t been responding to her letters. Harry invites Rose and Roslaie to come with him to Lady Mae’s to see a private performance of the much-celebrated Russian ballerina, Anna Pavola. After Harry meets Anna he invites to a private tour of the store. She agrees, which is great coup for him.

Episode 5: (Feb/03/2013)
Harry learns that Agnes has handed in her notice because her father has shamed her at work. Victor is pleased that Agnes is no longer working at the store and they end up sharing a kiss. Agnes' absence is felt as the store. Beatrice sees Roddy and Rose sharing a kiss after he gives her a painting. Rose attempts to convince her sister to keep quiet about what she saw and then tells Roddy that she can't see him again. Harry surprises Agnes when he shows up to see her and tells her that he can’t accept her resignation. After Harry pays her father off, Agnes agrees to return to work.

Episode 6: (Feb/10/2013)
Harry is unconscious following a car crash and a sombre mood takes over at the store as word spreards about what has happened. IMr Grove's wife has died and after he shows up at work, Miss Wardle notices that he’s not ready for a return and looks anxious. Frank goes to see Lois and tells her that Harry was gambling and drinking the night of the accident and that Ellen payed him a visit at the club. Ellen becomes upset after Frank tells her about Harry's accident. Rose learns from Harry's doctor that his condition is improving. A suffragette demo takes place at the store. Lady Mae is not happy when a lucn is cancelled. Crabb ends up calling a secret meeting behind Grove's back to address the Suffragette ‘situation’. The Suffragette demonstration is in full swing outside the store as Harry is ready to return to work. Harry ends up collapsing amidst the chaos and Viloette comes to his aid. A suffragette tells the rest of the crowd exactly who her daddy is and reveals that it is Harry.

Episode 7: (Feb/17/2013)
Rose learns that Harry has been suffering with nightmares and hallucinations and believes that he’s not ready to return to work so soon. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is in the store for a Sherlock Holmes book signing, and Harry greets him. Harry wants the senior staff to improve and reinvigorate their departments by introducing new product lines, new suppliers along with an injection of fresh thinking. Harry agrees to Agnes’ transfer to Ladies Fashion as a reward for Miss Ravillious’ smart and deft handling of the Suffragette crisis. Frank and Kitty indulge in some in-store flirtation. Rosalie is getting ready to attend her first society soiree at Lady Mae’s. Doris and Kitty run into Miss Bunting who can’t get a new job without a reference, and has fallen on hard times. Doris decides to talk to Mr Grove to see if there’s any way Miss Bunting could get a reference from Mr Selfridge. Agnes enlists the help of Henri who is more than willing to help her with her new position at the store and they end up sharing a kiss.

Episode 8: (Feb/24/2013)
Harry and Rose are getting ready to host a dinner in honour of friends Frank and Jennie Woolworth. Frank is a fellow American retail tycoon and founder of the famous High Street chain. A Woolworth’s store is about to open in Brixton, and when Frank thinks of a possible West End branch, Harry’s feathers soon become ruffled. Lady Mae wants to introduce young Rosalie to some eligible young Society men. Kitty and Doris vie for the vacant position of Senior Assistant in Accessories and are interviewed by Mr Grove. Ellen Love makes a surprise visit to the Palm Court, with Tony Travers on her arm. Victor has a proposition for Lady Mae.

Episode 9: (Mar/03/2013)
After having stayed at Henri’s house for the night, Agnes is late for work. Ernest Shackleton meets Harry at the store. Rosalie receives some flowers from Roddy but Rose sends them back to him, which upsets Rosalie. Mr Grove is waiting for the staff to show up and there ends up being a severe lack of employees ready to start work. Kitty runs in and explains that they all got stuck on the tube just outside of Bond Street. Mr Grove learns that there was a body on the line and it looks like Miss Bunting has killed herself and there was a letter addressed to Harry in her purse.

Episode 10: (Mar/10/2013)
Harry wakes up at dawn next to a woman and gets dressed and heads home. He slides into bed with Rose but she’s not asleep. Henri wants to speak with Harry but Harry finds Lady Mae already waiting for him in his office. He learns that King Edward VII wants to shop in the store after hours. Kitty is delighted by Doris’ news and Miss Mardle demands to know what all the fuss is about. Mr Grove later goes to see Miss Mardle and she acts with dignity as he tells her that she’s the love of his life and doesn’t see why their arrangement has to end, despite the marriage. Henri informs Agnes that he’s accepted a job offer from Valerie Maurel’s company in New York. It’s Victor’s birthday and he tells Agnes that she can bring his present to the Palm Court at any time.

Season 2



Episode 1: (Jan/19/2014)
Harry and wife Rose have become increasingly estranged so he is left feeling over the moon after she shows up from America to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the opening of the store, but seems more interested in an exciting new friendship with a female novelist. Lady Mae is surprised by her husband's unexpected arrival in London, and after hearing him blackmail his way onto a government military committee, she suspects that he's up to something sinister.

Episode 2: (Jan/26/2014)
When the staff show up for work they find themselves having to cross a trade union protest at the staff entrance. The protest manages to stir up emotions with the staff especially with all the talk of war.

Episode 3: (Feb/02/2014)
Agnes is working through the night getting ready for the Empire Exhibition that Harry is rolling out across the store. Mr Crabb attempts to cover for Mr Grove after Harry thinks that he’s late for work again. Harry receives a visit from Henri and takes the opportunity to apologise asks him to return to work. Gordon is fed up with the frostiness between his parents. Miss Mardle asks Grove to meet her at her new address and he fnds out that she has inherited a beautiful London home and income from her brother. Lady Mae manages to find out that truth about Loxley’s finances and discovers that he has gambling debts and is rumoured to be all washed up.

Episode 4: (Feb/09/2014)
After the attacks in Belgium, men are signing up to do all they can for the war effort. A chocolate sale starts in the store. Agnes has to say an emotional goodbye.

Episode 5: (Feb/16/2014)
Agnes is now living in Miss Mardle’s house and she receives a letter from George from the front telling her all is well. Miss Mardle is surprised to find an extremely handsome male refugee named Florian as her other new lodger. Henri is feeling frustrated and he receives a mysterious telephone call from Webb who still has no results or new information for him.

Episode 6: (Feb/23/2014)
German goods are taken off the shelves in Selfridge’s and Harry has arranged for the store to hold a concert to help raise money for the troops. Lord Loxley challenges Mae about having lovers as it’s not part of their new deal.

Episode 7: (Mar/02/2014)
Police swarm the store as Frank walks Kitty to work. Rose and Gordon find the police inside their home as well. Victor tells A concerned Agnes to go to see Henri at the police station. Henri tells her he was in Germany for personal reasons looking for his ex-love Valerie. Agnes talks to Grove and insists to him that Henri is no spy. Rose feels perturbed that she can’t get in touch with Harry in Paris and finds a letter addressed to him with a detailed list of German manufacturers and addresses.

Episode 8: (Mar/09/2014)
Harry shows up back in the country surrounded by some bad publicity concerning Germany and Henri Leclair. Rose is happy to see him back but is surprised at how affected he is by what happened in Germany. Miss Mardle is concerned about Agnes and with there being no news about George. Florian attempts to comfort her; she feels uncomfortable after he attempts to tell her about his feelings towards her.

Episode 9: (Mar/16/2014)
Miss Mardle and Florian Dupont have spent the night together and she encourages him to leave before the house wakes up. Harry is upset that he’s still big news in the press and has a meeting arranged with his lawyers to try to put a stop to it all. He also finds out that Lady Mae has left Loxley. Agnes still receives no news about George.

Episode 10: (Mar/23/2014)
There is a party held at the Selfridge house with everyone in high spirits. Florian thinks about what he might have done to Miss Mardle as she won’t open up to him but she knows that they have no future. Agnes and Victor enjoy a walk into work together as they get ready to tell Harry that they’re handing in their notice as they’ll be getting married soon. Henri has being given the all clear and he’s a free man. Agnes goes to see Henri for one last time.

Season 3



Episode 1: (Jan/25/2015)
The family comes together at Rose's funeral as Harry wonders how he will ever get by without his beloved wife. Nine months later Rosalie is about to marry renowned Russian aviator Serge De Bolotoff.

Episode 2: (Feb/01/2015)
The store is about to host the biggest, most exclusive fashion event since the war with Madame Lanvin showcasing her new collection at the store. Harry hopes that he will be able to secure an exclusive contract with her. Harry goes to see Nancy Webb and tells her that the project reminds him of something that Rose once did.Harry wants Mr Crabb to arrange a Selfridge’s Board meeting because if he’s to pursue this charitable housing project, he’ll need an interest free loan from the shop.

Episode 3: (Feb/08/2015)
As news of the massacre in Belgium speards, George Towler wants to sign up to do his bit. Rose, Mae and Delphine help with a Belgian Chocolate Sale charity event to raise funds for Belgian refugees. Henri meets a man called Webb and tells him that he’ll have his money as soon as he has it himself. Grove and Crabb see a line of men queuing up outside Grove’s office and talk to Harry about it. Victor tells Agnes that George is enlisting.

Episode 4: (Feb/15/2015)
Kitty is taken to hospital by Harry and Nancy to hospital and Frank makes his way there too. Harry cancels his theatre plans and takes Nancy out to dinner instead. Violette makes her move on Victor. Kitty finds it to hard to remember the detail of her attack. Frank realises that the attackers must have been the ex-servicemen who were drinking with him immediately before the attack.

Episode 5: (Feb/22/2015)
Harry and Nancy are enjoying their romance, having been secretly seeing each other for a while now. Harry announces that the store is on the look out for two new staff members: a Store Deputy and Head of Display. Harry wants Gordon to apply but he is reticent; after the disaster with the fashion event he’s not sure he’s ready. Miss Mardle talks about the position of Deputy Manager with Grove, who thinks that she should not apply.

Episode 6: (Mar/01/2015)
Violette is put under house arrest by Harry following the police raid at Colleano’s. In an effort to keep her out of trouble, he is able to get her to agree to help Nancy with plans for the Selfridge Estate. Harry finds himself being forced to sell 5% of his shareholding in Selfridge’s. Crabb is concerned that he will no longer own the majority stake in the store. Gordon gets ready for his first day as Deputy Manager and Grove is happy after he is besieged by warring women on the store floor. Victor is backed into a corner by Purkiss who demands more money than he can afford.

Episode 7: (Mar/08/2015)
Harry offers his support after a situation effects Selfridge’s staff and Mardle tries to maintain composure but finds it hard with the weight of her secret. Victor receivs a isit from Regan to make sure that business is running to plan. George lets it be known that he disapproves of the illegal backstage gambling. Harry decides to take Nancy out and takes her to to a deserted Selfridge’s and gifts her with an expensive bottle of perfume. They the drink champagne in the moonlight at the Palm Court. Nancy is shocked after Harry admits to her that he’s no longer the outright owner of the store.

Episode 8: (Mar/15/2015)
In an effort to celebrate the signing of the landmark Treaty of Versailles, Harry talks to his newly appointed Head of Press and Print to think of a way to mark this moment in the store. Harry is surprised when Nancy decides that they should keep their relationship purely professional, at least until the Selfridge Estate is finished. Grove is determined to carry on as normal. Colleano’s is in full swing, but the mood is shattered after a fight breaks out between Regan's men.

Episode 9: (Mar/22/2015)
Nancy has not told Gus about her engagement to Harry and doesn’t wear her engagement ring when he is around. Harry is still feeling pressured to boost shareholder profits. After a surprise delivery from the Russian Embassy shows up at the Selfridge house, Princess Marie feels moved and ecstatic to see her precious family jewels secreted away inside.

Episode 10: (Mar/29/2015)
Frank walks with Kitty to work complaining about his lack of scoops as the police swarm into the store. Rose and Gordon watch on as the police enter their home as well. Victor realises that Agnes is feeling anxious and tells her to go to see Henri at the police station. Henri informs her that he had been in Germany for personal reasons to look for his ex-love Valerie. Henri sees her engagement ring and tells her that he’s glad that she has found love.
