About THE X-FILES & Episode Guides

The truth is out there

The X-Files Aired From September 10, 1993 – May 19, 2002 On FOX

the story:
In the series, FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are tasked with investigating the "X-Files": marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena. Mulder plays the role of the "believer", having faith in the existence of aliens and the paranormal, while Scully is a skeptic, initially assigned by her departmental superiors to debunk Mulder's unconventional work because of her scientific background.

The series was a novel combination of mythical (episodes developing the characters entanglement in the governmental conspiracy revolving around extraterrestrials) as well as monster-of-the-week (standalone episodes dealing with various paranormal creatures and situations) episodes.

In the last two seasons, Mulder is abducted and two new central characters, FBI agents John Doggett (a by-the-book skeptic) and Monica Reyes (a sensitive believer) are introduced. They continue Mulder and Scully's work on the bureau’s bizarre-natured X-files and are introduced to the web of conspiracy surrounding Mulder's disappearance.
